Hair Extensions Norwich prides themselves on using hair strands made of 100% human Russian remy hair all correctly cuticle-aligned. The more the client looks after the hair the longer the hair extensions will look & feel luxurious!
The follicles aren't attached directly to your scalp and therefore don't receive the natural oils from your hair, only the recommended shampoo, conditioner and other products should be used after the fitting for better, long lasting results.
We have trialed and tested all of our hair strands and the recommended products therefore we are very aware that they will make such a difference to the hair, without these items being purchased from the start alongside the hair we simply cannot guarantee the lifespan or condition of the hair strands under your care.
- Use a tangle teezer daily and a wide tooth comb when wet to avoid catching baby knots.
- Running your fingers through the bonds daily will help keep them separate & avoid strands tangling/grouping.
- Maximum of 3 hair washes per week. Try using a shower cap to avoid dampness or dry shampoo.
- ALWAYS wash the extensions upright in the shower/bath and gently scrub in a zig-zag motion (not circular).
- After washing, carefully towel dry the extensions or use a hair turban to remove most of the excess water.
- Detangler spray is best used all over after washing to avoid pulling any strands out of the heavy wet hair.
- Do NOT try to unpick or untangle the bonds. Leave the roots to me whilst you look after the ends ;)
- Hold the hair half-way down and gently brush through the bottom half first, then gently brush the root area.
- Section the hair into large chunks when drying: Bottom section / Middle section / Top section to avoid damp roots.
- Heat defence spray is recommended before drying / straightening / curling, avoid spraying the bonds.
- ALWAYS blow-dry on a medium heat per hair wash, making sure the extensions are dry from root to tip.
- (HIGH HEAT CAN MELT EXTENSIONS!)
- Straightening / curling is absolutely fine but be sure to leave at least an inch gap from the bond/root to avoid melting any tips. COMMON MISTAKE - but it ruins the strand and it will be binned.
- Never go to bed with all over wet hair. The ends can be braided damp overnight to get a crimped style the next day but you MUST dry the root area first to avoid matting.
- Sleep with the extensions in a low loose ponytail or braid to keep them from tangling / crossing over.
Clients should ONLY use the recommended shampoo / conditioner / oil / sprays to prevent any dryness, discolouration, frizz or irritation to the scalp.
ALWAYS test patch an inconspicuous area of the extensions before any colouring/toning takes place.
- Hair extensions tend to take to products differently to natural hair so it may need longer or less time to develop colour / toner / treatments.
- AVOID using purple shampoo daily as this is very drying & damaging to hair extensions, limit it to just one a week.
- PLEASE remind your hairdresser to be careful when handling the extensions & not to be heavy handed. I have had cases of hairdressers causing slippage, matting or pulling lots of strands out.
- To achieve layers or a natural look ALWAYS point cut, individual extensions can go bulky and uneven when not cut properly very easily. (Blunt cuts are only ideal for a very thick edge).
- Please do NOT put suncream in the scalp or where the extensions can touch, this causes a chemical reaction and can discolour them immediately (particularly blondes).
- TRY to wear the extensions up or a sunhat as much as possible during the day, chlorine / hard water / intense UV sunlight can dry the hair out so quickly.
- Chlorine is a nightmare! It doesn't matter if you get the hair splashed/wet but AVOID swimming under water.
- ALWAYS take your recommended products on holiday with you - hotel products are awful & there's never enough!
- ALWAYS use a shower cap when using a sunbed. Again, the intense UV will dry & discolour the extensions.
As much as we love to relax on holiday, it is the most important and testing time when wearing extensions, please continue to follow the aftercare advice.
- Hair extensions may feel a little bit uncomfortable to sleep on for the first few days as you will not be used to having 100-200 beads/bonds in your hair, this will ease within the first week.
- (It's kind of like sleeping with dozens of bobby pins in - not painful but you know they're there!)
- Any strands that come loose within the first week are immediately refitted free of charge. It's normal whilst getting used to them but it will become the norm.
- Throughout the duration of wear (8-10 weeks) it is NORMAL to loose 5-15 strands, but don't panic there's still 100's left so you will barely notice until they're refitted.
- A maintenance appointment is required every 8-10 weeks depending on how quickly the hair grows out. (see maintenance tab)
